The Southwest Virginia Hospital Preparedness Commission is a group of 13 hospitals and 3 heath departments. These facilities are located in western Virginia and eastern Tennessee.
This hospital group is involved in mutual support during times of disaster or widespread emergencies. Amateur Radio provides a backup communications system in times of communications failure or system overload.
The hospital ham system is not part of any organized ham emergency communications group other than hospital's own organization. We welcome committed amateur radio operators that want to serve their local community in times of disaster. Hospitals are at the heart of “first responders” activities and it is imperative they have a reliable backup communications system. We invite and welcome you to become a part of supporting your local hospital and other hospitals and health departments that are engaged in mutual support within our region.
There is a link to a sign-up form on the left of this page. When you complete the form and hit "Submit", you will be added to our Ham Radio support group.
