The Woods River Chapter of the American Red Cross is committed to serving the needs of the people in the City of Galax, along with Carroll, Grayson and Wythe Counties of Virginia. In times of crisis or need the Red Cross is here to care for the needs of the people of this section of SW Virginia. This is achieved through Disaster Services, Disaster Preparedness, Service to the Armed Forces, Health and Safety Classes, International Services and Volunteer Services. Our chapter executive, Joan Isom pictured above has serviced the chapter for many years as a volunteer and for the past number of years as our only full-time staff person. The local chapter uses the chapter house pictured at the right and above for both training, coordination of services and administration. Our van pictured at the left was a recently donation to the chapter by the Carroll County Board of Supervisors as a gesture of appreciation for the excellent support the county has received from the Red Cross in supporting their emergency service operations.
